Nokwanda du Plessis
Nokwanda has an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cape Town and has over 15 years of experience. For 11 years she held various positions at the University of Cape Town where she worked as a Junior Research Fellow, lecturer, clinical supervisor in the psychology department, and as a clinical psychologist at the university’s Student Wellness Service. During her tenure at UCT she also consulted for several organisations involved in work with trauma survivors in various African countries.
In 2018 she went into private practice based at a private psychiatric clinic in Cape Town, while continuing to supervise and lecture trainee clinical psychologists at the University of Cape Town.
In 2023 she started volunteering as a psychosocial care provider for Operation Smile South Africa, and in January 2025 became a member of Operation Smile’s Global Credentialing Advisory Panel.
Nokwanda is passionate about what she does and feels a deep sense of gratitude at having the opportunity to journey with people through difficult experiences and seeing them effect positive changes in their lives.
